Camels, Desert, Pyramids-----EGYPT

HELLO!
So this past weekend I was in Egypt! Cairo is such a cool city. It is so old, but some aspects are very modern. There are skyscrapers and ancient buildings next to each other, men in business suits and men in long linen robes with turbans, and also, donkeys and BMWs share the same road! Traffic is really bad about 23 hours/day and if there are 2 painted lanes of traffic, there are 3 forced lanes of cars. It was quite the experience. I would have to say that my favorite part was riding a camel through the Sahara Desert to the pyramids of Giza. We were there until sunset--which was so pretty! We also traveled to Alexandria for a day and ate the best fish any of us had ever eaten! I have more stories, but on with the pictures!

This is inside one of the Step Pyramids--it is basically underground with a big pyramid on top.
Inside the pyramid, the hieroglyphics that were engraved all over. This is one of my favorite pictures.
Us outside the step pyramid.
Cows on the road next to us.
Some cute Egyptian boys .Herding sheep on the road.
Madge and I on our camels! Mine was named Mike Tyson, and hers was Michael Jackson.

Holding the pyramid with two fingers.
The Sphinx is to our right. Oh and the pyramids are in the background!

We got to climb one of them! So massive!
Sepia.

Walk like an Egyptian.
No pun intended.
Sunset over my head.
Sahara Desert sunset.
This was at the Sound and Light Show at the pyramids! Lit up Sphinx!
They told an Egyptian tale and lasered images onto the pyramids.

Alexandria, these structures were from the Romans.
Library in Alexandria---huge!!

Inside the library.
We got to choose what fish we wanted to eat and how we wanted it cooked! Some of the seafood was still moving! Can't get much fresher than that!
The Citadel in Alexandria.
The city of Alexandria in the background.

Citadel in Cairo. Mosque of Muhammad Ali.

Inside the mosque.
A shop.
Cairo from the Citadel.
At the market in Cairo. We did a lot of bartering!
This was at the Hanging Catholic Church. The sign says Saint Barbara!

I am off to Vienna and Prague for our spring break!!!!!
